Computational Relativity:
Black Holes and Gravitational Waves on a Laptop

This is a talk on Relativity Theory which assumes little or no technical background from the audience. It will look in turn at the Special and the General Theory of Relativity and turn to the area of Computer Algebra and its application to General Relativity, an area the speaker has pioneered. It will then survey some aspects of three field of current interest, namely Black Holes, Gravitational Waves and Numerical Relativity. In each case the use of computers will be emphasised and some illustrations will be given using a standard spec laptop.

Välkomna!
